New from Louis
The stars came out to see the new collections by Louis Vuitton.
March 2008
With Victoria Beckham taking notes, Sophia Coppola looking understatedly elegant, Dita Von Tiesse looking her usual sultry self and Courtney Love looking once again like a glam star, it was indeed a star-studded turnout for Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2008 collection.
While the naughty nurses were the stars of the women’s show, the men’s collection was inspired by the decadent beaches of the 1920s. The colours of cream, pale grey, indigo, sky blue, burnt orange and mustard yellow are all drawn from the shades of the beach and the vibe is all about casual elegance.
Seamless trousers were worn just above the ankle and some of the fitted tailoring was contrasted by looser fits – such as generous sweaters and holiday mode pants with adjustable ankle straps. Long-sleeved T-shirts inspired by signal flags and beige jeans with lurex for a lunar gleam also caught the eye. Combined with casual bags in woven horsehair cabas and cotton canvas, the new collection is perfect for lazy weekends – as well as a few pieces that will cross over to the office.
